At 18, “being an artist” looked like a one-way ticket to Fiji with just my backpack and a sketchbook. After 12 years of rigid public schooling, knew I wanted freedom and space to explore my true creative voice. While my friends were starting college, I was backpacking through foreign countries, recording everything I discovered inside a leather-bound journal.

For the past month, I’ve been working on a very special project with my mural painting students at Antioch University. We partnered with New Horizons ministry to paint a mural in their drop-in center, which provides services to homeless and at-risk youth in the Seattle area. It was an incredible honor to work with New Horizons, meet their community and see their beautiful work they are doing in our city. This was one of those projects that I was sad to see finish.

Its finished! You can now visit my latest mural at Esters Enoteca in Fremont. Come be serenaded by psychedelic wine molecules while enjoying some of the best paninis in town. Seriously, this was such a dream project. I was given all the creative trust and freedom an artist could ask for, plus time, material support and a good work crew! What a dream.

So pumped to share that I'm hard at work on a new mural in Fremont, Seattle. Ester's Enoteca is set to open in a few weeks, and will feature my enormous (300 square foot) painting!

Tea-dyeing gives paper a warm tone, similar to the look of aged paper. It is useful for creating faux-aging effects, and also makes a beautiful, natural background for drawings, watercolors and prints. 

I am using these dyed papers for a series of greeting cards based on my Pussyflower project.  I found that the natural white paper of my watercolors felt empty when produced as a printed card. With dyed paper,  I gave my paintings an antique feel, and created visual interest in the blank areas of the greeting cards.

If you had to explain kissing to a group of extraterrestrials, how would you do it? I tried to answer this question with my partner Barnaby, in the digital film “Ways of Kissing.” Of course, there are infinite kissing styles, but I hope we’ve thought of some variations that you haven’t tried. 

"Ways of Kissing" premiered yesterday at the Echofluxx17 festival in Prague. This annual event celebrates experimental film, music and dance in the Fluxus lineage. 

Seattle's biggest celebration of art and eroticism is in full swing for the 15th annual Seattle Erotic Art Festival.  You can buy my pussyflower T-shirts and prints at the festival store, along with lots of other great artwork which explores sexuality and arousal.

What's the  most important thing missing from sex education today? The fact that people have sex because it's pleasurable.

The Isis Women Arts Festival is a celebration of feminine creativity in Seattle. The event brings together women-identified artists for an evening of music, art and perfomance at Mokedo Gallery. Now in it's 8th year, the festival is an opportunity experimentation and networking within the local community of women artists. I'll be there with my garden of pussyflowers, and I’d love you to join me!

There are an estimated 5,400 suicide attempts every day by teenagers in the US. Physical and social bullying is a factor in nearly all of these cases. "Confessions of a Former Bully" is the only children's film which addresses the issue from the perspective of the perpetrator. By understanding the reasons people victimize others, we can address the issue at the root of the problem.
